Trade / Storage Municipal Permission
Introduction
Trading is an activity that involves the purchase, storage, and sale of general usage articles. But the activity of trading may also result in unwanted consequences such as garbage, noise, sanitation problems, etc. For this purpose, the municipal committees of each city have a set of guidelines and procedures to set up a trading business. This is called a Trade/Storage Registration. The trade/storage Registration means that a particular business is compliant with the rules and regulations of its respective municipality.

Process of Trade / Storage Municipal Permission
- Submit an application to the local Municipal Corporation (online or offline).
- Provide details such as business name, type of trade/storage, and premises address.
- Location suitability (zoning compliance)
- Safety measures (fire safety, ventilation, hygiene)
- Nature and quantity of stored goods
The municipal authority verifies the application and documents.
4. Compliance Verification
- Municipal by-laws
- Safety and environmental standards
- Storage regulations (especially for hazardous goods)
After successful verification, the Municipal Authority issues:
- Trade / Storage Permission Certificate
- License / Registration Number
- ULB (Nagar Nigam) verifying officer checks the application and forwards it to the approving officer online. Site inspection may occur for compliance (zoning, safety). Track progress on the dashboard; download the license from "CERTIFICATE/NOC ISSUED" post-approval.

The applicant is required to apply online, in case the Municipal Corporation has this facility, otherwise, a hard copy application in a prescribed format is to be submitted to the Municipal Authority. The Government fee is submitted and the documents uploaded or attached to the hard copy application. The concerned officer may inspect the premises where the business activity is taking place. After the queries issued by the inspector are suitably answered, the Trade Registration is issued.
The Government fee for a new trade Registration application may range from Rs.500 to Rs.25,000, depending on the Municipal Corporation. Besides, if an agency is hired for this work, it may charge you. Metacorp charges Rs.10,000 to Rs.20,000 for the trade license.
