Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB) is the state-level authority responsible for preventing, controlling, and reducing pollution in Jharkhand. The JSPCB operates under central Acts like the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, and related rules. It implements these central environmental laws and related rules in Jharkhand covering water, air, hazardous waste, solid waste, biomedical waste and other environmental issues. The Board plans and executes programmes to prevent and control pollution of streams wells and air and advises the State Government on sitting and operation of potentially polluting industries. It also undertakes and supports research public awareness and training related to pollution control and collaborates with the Central Pollution Control Board on standards and enforcement.
