Gujarat Pollution Control Board Compliances

The GPCB operates under the mandate of key Central Government legislation:

The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974.
The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.
Issuing consents (No Objection Certificates) for establishing and operating industries and granting authorizations for managing hazardous biomedical and plastic wastes.
Rules and guidelines issued under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (especially those related to waste management).
Collaborating with Central Pollution Control Board and other agencies for research and development in pollution control technologies.
Handling public grievances and complaints related to pollution including taking action against violations.
Consent to Establish (CTE): Granted before a project's construction begins, based on its potential environmental impact (often involving an Environmental Impact Assessment, or EIA).
Consent to Operate (CTO): Granted before a unit begins production, confirming that the pollution control measures (like Effluent Treatment Plants - ETPs) are installed and functioning correctly.
