It is responsible for issuing EPR authorizations, which certify that manufacturers have viable plans and systems in place to manage their e-waste in compliance with national regulations. This includes verifying that manufacturers are collaborating with licensed dismantlers and recyclers who meet the standards for environmentally sound management of e-waste.
The EPR Authorization certificate is mandatory for manufacturers and importers of electrical & electronic items, plastic products, lead acid battery, & tyres. The EPR Authorization ensures that a systematic method for the disposal of e-waste, plastic waste, battery waste, & tyre waste is followed, and that this disposal is conducted in a manner that avoids any negative environmental impact. Issued by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) under the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (Moef), the EPR certificate guarantees that the management of waste is conducted responsibly and without hazards to the environment.
